Synopsis

Congo Paradiso takes us into an unwritten history. Child soldiers in the Congo. They have killed, pillaged, raped; they have been manipulated and recruited. They took part in one of the biggest conflicts of recent years, where they were both victims and executioners, and yet they are children. In the center that welcomes them to try to bring them back to civilian life, a Belgian director works with them in a fascinating way: they act out the worst scenes of violence, war and torture. But the weapons are made of wood. And the children laugh. Through improvisations of situations proposed by the children, inspired by their own lives, this catharsis work reveals buried personalities, provokes debate, reverses roles and initiates a genuine process of reconciliation, often with oneself.
