Synopsis

For every woman, losing a breast in order to recover from cancer is an often hidden and taboo event. The reconstruction process, often fraught with doubts, is still approached by doctors in an overly technical manner. The "Guérir le regard" documentary, initiated by the Institut Curie, is an innovative therapeutic tool designed to "walk" alongside women to nurture their reflection, rediscover the intimacy and freedom they need to choose their own path to reconstruction, whether surgical or non-surgical. Woven from the experience and unvarnished testimonies of women aged 30 to 70, "Amazons" or not, punctuated by the words of caregivers, this film, beyond providing information, questions, without hiding the bodies, the image of the lost breast in the face of archaisms and aesthetic and social, as well as medical, norms... Healing the gaze allows us to extend the consultation in cinematographic terms, and perhaps paves the way for new forms of therapeutic collaboration.
