Pierre Wolper
After graduating in Civil Electrical Engineering from the University of Liège in 1978, Pierre Wolper obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Stanford University (USA) in 1982. He continued his career by working as a researcher in the Computer Technology Research Laboratory at AT&T Bell Laboratories in the USA until 1986. He then taught at the University of Liège, first as a Chargé de Cours and, since 1989, as Professeur Ordinaire. He was Vice-Rector for Research from 2009 to 2014, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences from 2015 to 2018 and Rector of the University from October 2018 to September 2022.
In 2009, Pierre Wolper was elected member of the “Technology and Society” class of the Académie Royale de Belgique and, in 2012, of the IT section of Academia Europaea.
